On Thursday September 16, 2021 forty-four golfers converged on the Beverly Golf and Country Club for the Annual 100 Holes for Haiti Golf Tournament. Following strict COVID protocols, the attendees had the entire golf course to themselves including the clubhouse for registration, breakfast, lunch, socializing, and a gourmet dinner.

It was a perfect day for the golfers who had the freedom to play as many holes as they wished. The only restriction was to avoid interrupting the more serious golfers who participated in a single round of golf called the “Tournament within a Tournament” that started at 1:00pm on the first tee.

The day was topped off with a gourmet dinner which Jean Dorcent (CFHAS) opened by saying grace. The 60 people in attendance, for the evening, enjoyed a delicious steak or chicken dinner. Guest speakers Debbie Berquist (CFHAS) and Cal Schultz (Joy and Hope) provided brief updates of their respective organizations.

This was one of the most successful events held since the first tournament held in 2004. All money raised will be shared equally by:

  • Canadian Friends of Hôpital Albert Schweitzer (CFHAS)- supporting Maternal and Child Health Care to over 350,000 Haitians in the Artibonite Valley of Central Haiti.

  • Joy and Hope of Haiti - supporting the ongoing educational needs and of 3,175 students in 10 schools and the weekly feeding of 7,500 people living in and around Cap Haitian.

The funds so generously donated will have a positive impact on the lives of the children and mothers that both organizations support.

Thus, a big THANK YOU goes to not only those who organized this successful day but ESPECIALLY to the golfers and those who supported them. It cannot be done without you!!

Mark you calendar’s today! Next year’s tournament is scheduled for Thursday September 15, 2022.
